The Spanish government on Monday condemned a suicide bombing that killed four people in the Israeli resort city of Eilat earlier in the day, the first such bombing in nine months.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry, the Spanish government expressed its "condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, which are not and will never be an appropriate means to solve the Middle East conflict."

Meanwhile, Spain reiterated its support and solidarity with the people and government of Israel.

On Monday morning, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a bakery in Eilat, some 350 km south of Jerusalem.

Three Palestinian military groups, the Islamic Jihad (Holy War), the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, which is an armed wing of the Palestinian National Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement, and the previously unknown "Army of Believers," claimed responsibility for the attack.

It is the first suicide bombing on Israeli soil since last April when a suicide bomber blew himself up at a Tel Aviv old bus station, killing 11 people.
