South Korean Foreign Ministry on Tuesday hailed Beijing's announcement that a new session of the six-party talks will be resumed on Feb. 8, saying it will make continuous efforts to push forward the negotiation process.
The South Korean government looks forward that the countries concerned with the six-party talks can produce substantial agreements on the implementation of the joint statement reached on Sept. 19, 2005 with a positive and sincere attitude, said the ministry in a statement.
The South Korean government will keep on playing a positive role in the negotiations to push forward the six-party process and keep close cooperation with the nations concerned, the statement said.
The statement also highly commended the diplomatic efforts by countries concerned with the talks to bring out an early resumption of the talks after the last session of the six-party talks ended in December.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday that the third phase of the fifth round of the Six-party talks on the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula will open in Beijing on Feb. 8.
The six-party talks involves the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), China, Japan, Russia, South Korea and the United States.
