font size

South Korea helped Indonesia with equipment valued at 500,000 U.S. dollars to fight bird flu in the country, Agriculture Minister Anton Apriantono said Tuesday.

Minister Apriantono said that the devices comprise powder antiseptic, manual knapsack sprayer and devices to rapidly detect bird flu on animals.

The equipment would be used by a number of animal quarantine centers in the country, he said.

Most of the provinces in Indonesia has been infected by the highly pathogenic H5N1.

Sixty-three out of 81 people infected by bird flu have died in Indonesia, all of them were infected through fowls, health ministry said.

Indonesia has slaughtered millions of chickens to prevent the disease from spreading.
