Hamas warns to resume attacks against Israel
font size

A leader of the governing Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza warned on Tuesday that Hamas respects the ceasefire but will resume attacks against the Jewish state.

"When we resume our operations, the world will know that Hamas is the principal part to confront the Zionist enemy," Hamas lawmaker Mushier al-Masri told reporters in Gaza.

Al-Masri said that the Hamas-led government "was still adopting the resistance choice and that this why the entire world stood against Hamas."

"If the government gave up this choice, things will become easy for the government," added al-Masri.

The Hamas-led government faces mounting international pressures and sanctions for refusing to recognize Israel and respect peace deals.

Meanwhile, al-Masri braised the Monday suicide booming that killed three Israelis in the Israeli Red Sea resort of Eilat.

"The government considered this operation a normal reaction to the crimes of the Zionist enemy," said la-Masri.

Last November, Israel and the Palestinians reached a limited ceasefire in the Gaza Strip but the deal remained fragile.
