Nowadays, more and more Chinese communicate via mobile phone, and now they are using their phones to read the news, receive and send e-mails, find jobs, play games and listen to music online. The age of the "thumb economy" is quietly dawning.

The latest report on internet development published by the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) found that in China, of the 137 million internet users, 17 million use a mobile phone to surf online, or 12.4 percent of the total.

CNNIC's report profiled this group: they are aged between 18 and 24 years, male, single, working in an enterprise and living in the city.
