font size

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt met Kosovo president and prime minister in Pristina Wednesday, Radio Sweden reported.

The Swedish minister's visit came just two days before the unveiling of a United Nations proposal expected to pave the way for the province's independence from Serbia.

On Friday chief UN envoy Martti Ahtisaari is to present his plan for the future of Kosovo, according to the public broadcaster.

Carl Bildt, who was also an international envoy in the former Yugoslavia, told Radio Sweden that he expects Ahtisaari's plan will begin a process that will see Kosovo's status resolved this year.
