font size

Chinese President Hu Jintao left Monrovia, capital of Liberia, on Thursday night for Sudan's Khartoum to continue his eight-nation tour of Africa.

During his brief stay in Monrovia, President Hu and Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf exchanged views on expanding friendly cooperation between China and Liberia.

The two sides signed a series of cooperation deals following the talks.

President Hu also met representatives of the Chinese peacekeepers serving in the UN peacekeeping force in Liberia.

Bilateral relations between China and Liberia have developed rapidly since the two countries resumed the diplomatic relations in 2003.

The two countries have forged a political relationship based on mutual trust, respect and support, accelerated economic and trade cooperation and maintained close coordination in international affairs.

China firmly supports Liberia's peace process and economic construction and appreciates its adherence to the one-China policy and support for China's unification.

Having visited Cameroon and Liberia, He is also due to visit Sudan, Zambia, Namibia, South Africa, Mozambique and the Seychelles.
