A series of insurgent attacks, including a suicide car bombing, raged in and around Iraqi restive city of Fallujah on Saturday, killing two civilians and wounding 14 others, local police source said.
In the Amriyat al-Fallujah town, 7 km south of Fallujah City, a suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden car into a police station, wounding eight policemen, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
However, local witnesses told Xinhua that they believe some of the reportedly wounded policemen have died.
Meanwhile, several mortar rounds targeted another police station in the town, but missed its target and landed on nearby houses, killing a civilian and wounding six others, the source said.
In Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, a second civilian was killed when gunmen opened fire at him in front of his house in the Shuhadaa neighborhood, the source added.
The Sunni-dominated Fallujah has frequently witnessed insurgent attacks against the U.S. and Iraqi government forces despite U.S.- Iraqi military operations in the city to stamp out insurgency and hunting foreign fighters.
