German Chancellor Angela Merkel arrived in Egyptian capital of Cairo on Saturday on a two-day visit to Egypt, the first leg of her four-nation regional tour.
During the visit, Merkel would hold talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak on the latest developments in the Palestinian arena and international efforts to revive Mideast peace process, Egypt's official news agency MENA reported.
Merkel-Mubarak talks are expected to cover other regional issues such as the situation in Iraq, Sudan's Darfur, Lebanon and Somalia as well as bilateral relations.
The German chancellor is also expected to hold talks with Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef, Industry and Trade Minister Rachid Mohamed Rachid and Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa, said MENA.
Egypt and Germany are expected to sign four cooperation agreements on promoting Egypt's industry as well as the training and developing of human resources.
Merkel, whose country currently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union, will also visit Saudi Arabia, the Untied Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
