GCC condemns bloody Saturday attack in Iraq
font size

Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) secretary general Abdulrahman al-Attiyah condemned Sunday the spiral of violence in Iraq which killed and injured hundreds of people on Saturday only, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.

Al-Attiyah, who is currently in Riyadh, called on all Iraqis in a statement to be rational and resort to dialogue instead of using guns against each other, said KUNA.

He was quoted as saying that Iraq was in dire need of unification of ranks facing enemies, seeking its unity and stability.

Al-Attiyah reiterated rejection to all terrorist acts and sectarian violence in Iraq, saying achieving stability and security needed collaboration of all Iraqis and away from foreign interference.

More than 130 people were killed and over 300 others injured in a truck bombing attack in a busy market of Sadriyah in central Baghdad on Saturday.
