Visiting Indonesian Foreign Minister Hasan Wirajuda said on Sunday that his country and Syria share identical viewpoints on several issues of mutual concern in the Middle East, the official SANA news agency reported.
"Indonesia and Syria share identical viewpoints regarding several issues of mutual concern, especially those related to situations in Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon in addition to the Arab- Israeli conflict," Wirajuda was quoted as saying.
Wirajuda made the remarks after a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in which he presented Assad a letter from his President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on enhancing bilateral relations on all levels.
He said his visit here aimed at improving bilateral ties between the two countries, stressing the necessity to translate the strong ties into a productive cooperation, particularly in the economic, trade and religious fields.
