A U.S. soldier was killed and two others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Monday.

The attack took place on Sunday when the bomb detonated on their "M-1117 Armored Security Vehicle while they were conducting a combat logistics patrol north of Baghdad," the military said in a statement.

Earlier, the military said another soldier died Sunday of wounds sustained during fight with insurgents in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad.

Since the U.S.-led war in Iraq broke out in March 2003, about 3, 090 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
