font size

A collection of works by late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping has been published to commemorate the 10th anniversary of his death.

The 140 works date from September 1949 to August 1952 when Deng was in charge of the southwest bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The works include Deng's articles, reports, speeches, telegrams, instructions, letters and inscriptions, most of which are being published for the first time, according to the Central Literature Publishing House.

The works record Deng's thoughts in the early period of New China and cover military struggles, economic rejuvenation, social and democratic reforms, culture and the peaceful liberation of Tibet.

Deng Xiaoping is one of the most influential figures in modern Chinese history. He held many crucial governmental posts, including vice premier of the State Council and chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China.

Chinese people have started to become prosperous by following the pragmatic policies masterminded by Deng, including the reform and open-up policy.

Deng died in Beijing in February 1997 at the age of 93.
