Two militants killed in conflict in Afghanistan
font size

A conflict killed two militants and wounded three soldiers of the U.S.-led coalition forces in Zabul province of southern Afghanistan, said a coalition statement received on Thursday.

"A coalition convoy was attacked with small arms fire and rocket propelled grenades at 4:39 p.m. local time on Wednesday 4 km north of Mizan town," the statement said, adding "the troops fought the enemy with small arms fire, killing two enemies."

"Three coalition soldiers were injured in the attack, but their wounded were not life threatening," the statement said.

Zabul has been a hotbed of Taliban and other militants, who clash with foreign and government forces frequently.

Over 300 persons, mostly militants, have been killed in insurgency in Afghanistan this year.
