Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned Thursday that his country would hit back at U.S. targets all over the world if attacked by the United States, the state-run television reported.

Khamenei made the remarks during a speech at a gathering of Iranian air force commanders.

"Our enemies understand that their aggression would draw a comprehensive reaction to the invaders and their interests all over the world...they should not intimidate Iranian people with such things," the leader was quoted as saying.

But Khamenei expressed his confidence that the U.S. dares not to launch a war against Iran, saying "we don't believe that any one would do such irrational and erroneous thing, since this will destroy its interests".

"Somebody may say the U.S. president doesn't usually calculate the consequences of his actions, however, it's very possible to bring this kind of people to wisdom, and U.S. policy-makers know very well the Iranian people cannot let an invasion go without a response," the top leader stressed.

However, Khamenei didn't mention any details over what kind of revenges Iran would make if U.S. military forces impose a war on it.

Meanwhile, the supreme leader also dismissed rumors over his health, saying "our country's enemies fabricated some news about death and health and tried to hit our people's morale".

"But they are facing the whole nation, not just one person," he added.

The tension of Iran's relations with the U.S. has escalated in the past weeks. Due to Tehran's hardline stance toward the UN sanction resolution on its nuclear program and what the U.S. termed as "bad role" in Iraqi issues, the U.S. has swiftly built up its military capabilities in the Gulf region to impose more pressure on the Islamic Republic.

There were also rumors from some Western media that the U.S. and Israel would attack Iran's nuclear sites in the coming weeks.

But Iran's top officials, including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, recently have reiterated the country's readiness to encounter any foreign military threats.

Khamenei also had warned last April the United States would gain global revenges if it launches an attack on the Islamic republic.

Iran also staged a new round of military drills Wednesday and test-fired missiles, showing an unyieldingness to the international pressure.
