Hamas calls for ending Israeli-Palestinian ceasefire in Gaza

A senior leader of Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) called on Palestinian factions on Saturday to revoke ceasefire with Israel in response to the excavation works near al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem.

"The Israeli occupation understands nothing but rockets," said Nezzar Rayan, who also urged militant groups to "respond to enemy's violations."

Rayan added that the diggings around al-Aqsa mosque in east Jerusalem, the Islam's third holy shrine, "was the biggest breach of the truce which the Palestinian factions agreed to."

The Palestinian militant groups agreed to a ceasefire in Gaza Strip last November following several Israeli military operations that killed hundreds of people.
