Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Sunday expressed full commitment to the Mecca agreement and reiterated that the new coalition government would respect signed regional deals.
"Hamas has no reservation and even if there was any reservation it would be only among us as a party," said Hamas spokesman Ismail Radwan whose movement will head the upcoming national unity government.
According to the agreement reached in Saudi city of Mecca last Thursday, the two Palestinian rival movements Fatah and Hamas would form a new coalition government that includes Fatah to take the place of the current Hamas-led government.
The movements also agreed to end months of internal fighting which had killed dozens since Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called for earlier elections in December, 2006.
Meanwhile, Radwan denied reports that the factions had nominated their candidates for the portfolios of the new government.
"No name was discussed and we are waiting the delegations to return to Gaza and begin applying Mecca deal," said Radwan.
Hamas and Fatah conferees, who are now in Egypt awaiting for reopening of the Gaza border, are to return home tomorrow.
The first mission of the upcoming government is to reshuffle security services, including a controversial Hamas force formed by interior minister Said Siam from the Hamas movement, Radwan said.
