Suicide car bomb attack kills 15 people west of Baghdad
font size

A suicide car bomb struck a police station on late Wednesday near the western city of Ramadi, 110 km west of Baghdad, killing 15 people and wounding 25 others, local police source said on Thursday.

"A suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden car into the al- Warrar police station west of the Ramadi City late on Wednesday, killing 15 people and wounding 25 others," the source told Xinhua.

Some of the victims were policemen, including local police chief, and the rest were visitors to the station, said the source, adding the attack severely damaged the police station.

Earlier, local media reports quoted a U.S. spokesman as saying that 11 people were killed, including four policemen, and 21 others wounded in the suicide car bomb attack.

Insurgents constantly target Iraqi security forces in a bid to undermine the U.S.-backed political process.
