Indonesia says forex reserves hit 45 bln USD

Indonesian foreign exchange reserves have touched the 45 billion U.S. dollars level, thanks in large part to the issuance of global bonds worth 1.5 billion dollars earlier this month, a central bank official said Friday.

"Yesterday (Thursday) all the proceeds were kept as international reserves. Now you can see that the foreign exchange reserves have exceeded 45 billion dollars," Bank Indonesia deputy governor Hartadi Sarwono was quoted by the Antara news agency as saying.

If confirmed, it would be a drastic rise from 43.3 billion dollars recorded by the central bank in the end of January.
