font size

Preliminary testing of a Common Kestrel found in Hong Kong has indicated a suspected case of H5 avian influenza, a spokesman for the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) here on Saturday.

The carcass of the Common Kestrel was submitted for testing today by a Housing Department's sub-contractor who found it in Pak Tin Estate, Sham Shui Po of Hong Kong.

A department spokesman reminded the public to observe good personal hygiene.

"They should avoid personal contact with wild birds and live poultry and wash their hands thoroughly after coming into contact with them," he said.
