Spain condemns train blast attacks in India
font size

The Spanish government on Monday expressed its "most energetic condemnation for the horrific and brutal terrorist attack," that killed 66 people and injured at least 50 more, on a train traveling from India to Pakistan.

"We wish to send our complete solidarity to the victims and to both governments and peoples," said a government statement. "We condemn terrorism in all its manifestations," it added.

Spain also added that it supports and works with India and Pakistan in their fight against what it called "a scar on the peace process."

The train was traveling from Indian capital, New Delhi, to Pakistani city Lahore when a firebomb exploded, burning two carriages in Panipat, a region some 80 km north of New Delhi.

India-Pakistan train links are one of the most visible results of the peace process underway between the two countries.

Relations between India and Pakistan have warmed in recent years.
