Bomb attack in southern Thailand averted
font size

Officials managed to avert a bomb attack inside a 7-Eleven shop in Thai southernmost province of Yala Tuesday morning, local reports said.

Officials rushed to the scene after being alerted that a man left a package inside the shop and rushed out. The package was found to be a 5-kilogram homemade bomb, set to be detonated by a mobile phone.

Bomb experts defused the bomb immediately, Thai news group The Nation said.

Over 30 bombs rocked Thai southern provinces of Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla on Sunday and Monday, killing at least nine people and injuring more than 60 others.
