Malaysia to have 24-hour radio news channelMalaysia will open a 24-hour radio news channel in Malay and English languages in the next three months, Information Minister Zainuddin Maidin said Tuesday. For a start, the radio station, which is to be set up by the Information Ministry, will use the 93.9 MHz frequency and will be transmitted in the federal capital of Kuala Lumpur and some surrounding areas, Zainuddin told reporters in Sarawark state in eastern Malaysia. "In line with the objective of raising the service standard of the radio channel owned by the Ministry of Information, we need a station which is more focused on news," Zainuddin was quoted by the national news agency Bernama as saying. Currently, Malaysia has no local around-the-clock news TV station or radio channel. Source: Xinhua |
