Guatemala arrests four policemen in murder caseFour Guatemalan police officers were arrested Thursday for their alleged involvement in the murder of three El Salvadoran deputies from the Central American Parliament and their driver, reports said. The Guatemalan Interior Ministry said three of the four suspects were from the Criminal Investigation Directorate of the National Civil Police, and the other was the head of the Organized Crime Section. Deputies Eduardo D'Aubuisson, William Pichinte, Jose Ramon Gonzalez and their driver, police officer Gerardo Ramirez, traveled from El Salvador to Guatemala City and disappeared Monday afternoon. Their burned bodies were found Monday evening in El Jocotillo, 36 km from Guatemala City, after an anonymous tip-off. All had been shot dead before being burned. D'Aubuisson's body was returned home Wednesday, and the other three bodies have remained in Guatemala for autopsies. Wednesday, Guatemalan President Oscar Berger asked the United States' FBI for help in investigating the case. Source: Xinhua |
