A spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement urged designated Prime Minister Ismail Haneya of Hamas on Sunday to accelerate formation of national unity government.
"We call on the Prime Minister to speed up procedures of forming the government which we agreed to most of its details in Mecca accord," Fatah spokesman Maher Meqdad told Voice of Palestine radio.
Fatah has begun internal talks among its members Saturday to select its seven ministers who will participate in the government according to a power-sharing deal between Hamas and Fatah.
Meqdad said Fatah has deliberately delayed its internal talks in order to keep the door open for settling any obstacles that may appear in talks with other factions.
"We are ready to give up a number of portfolios to secure participation of all factions," Meqdad added.
Meanwhile, Bassam al-Salhi, the Secretary-General of the Palestinian People Party, expected the new coalition to be announced "this or next week."
"Mr. Haneya has actually finished talks with all political powers which will present their final conclusions," al-Salhi added.
