NTV building caught fire in Bangladesh

One lady jumped from the sixth floor and killed herself and over 60 injured people had been sent to hospital as a terrible fire broke out at Bangladesh's NTV building here Monday, local television station Channel i reported.

The fire broke out at about 10:35 am (0435GMT) at the 11-storey building from electric short circuit, trapping hundreds of people and forcing two private television channels to abruptly suspend their transmission.

Troops were called in aid of the fire fighters to rescue the people took shelter on the rooftop of the building that also houses a Bengali daily and several banks and business offices. Three helicopters were also pressed into operation to evacuate the trapped people.

According to report, there are 2,500 people working in the building.
