Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met Wednesday afternoon with visiting French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy.
Following Wen's meeting, Chinese State Councilor Chen Zhili also met with the French Foreign Minister.
According to sources with the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Chen and Douste-Blazy mainly exchanged views on bilateral cooperation on traditional Chinese medicine, science and technology and culture. The Ministry did not give details on Wen's meeting with Douste-Blazy.
Chen said the Chinese government attaches great importance to China-France relations and will stick to the friendly cooperation policy towards France.
She said the Chinese side is ready to work with the French side to continuously deepen bilateral cooperation of mutual benefits, and strengthen exchanges and cooperation in such fields as education, technology, traditional Chinese medicine and culture.
She said she hoped both sides will enhance understanding and friendship and enrich the contents of the all-round strategic partnership between China and France.
Douste-Blazy said the development of relations between France and China have kept a good momentum and that France hopes to expand exchanges and cooperation with China to broader fields.
Douste-Blazy arrived here Wednesday morning for a two-day official visit to China as guest of Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing. He had held talks with Li shortly after arrival.
