Lebanese security forces on Saturday found a batch of explosives, including some mortar shells, in south Lebanon, local ANB TV reported.
Security sources was quoted as saying that the forces at first found fake explosive devices in a wooden box on the highway leading to the southern town of Sidon.
Local civilians then found some mortar shells in a bag near the road between southern villages of Ansar and Al-Zrariya, said the sources, adding the security forces immediately showed up at the scene.
The cache of explosives include three effective 120mm mortar rounds and four small sized grenades, according to the sources.
The authorities fear that more such discoveries will be in the country as some advanced shells and explosives were also found recently in areas including Sidon, Ain Al-Hilweh Palestinian Refugee Camp and Al-Ashrafiyah area of the capital Beirut.
