font size

Work on a 28-kilometer railway from Dongzhimen in downtown Beijing to Beijing Capital Airport began on March 1, 2007.

The railway is expected to be completed by November 30, 2007.

The railway starts at Dongzhimen and spans Siyuan Crossroads, Wuyuan Crossroads and Beigao Crossroads. It will be divided into two branch lines in a Y shape once it crosses Wenyu River. The lines will lead to Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 at Capital Airport. Passengers using this line can change to both Line 2 and Line 13 on the Beijing Subway.

Trains on this line can travel at speeds of up to 110 kilometers per hour. It will take just 18 minutes to go from Dongzhimen to Terminal 3. The railway will be tested on April 1, 2008, and its first test run with passengers will be on July 1, 2008.
