font size

Yu Rumin, president of Tianjin Port Co. Ltd. has announced that the cargo throughput at Tianjin Port totaled 258 million tons last year, the sixth largest amount of any port worldwide. Some 5.95 million standard containers passed through the port, placing Tianjin among the world's top 20 in terms of container throughput. Already, 4 billion yuan has been invested in the Dongjiang Port area on the 10-square-kilometer artificial island. The first phase of Dongjiang Tax Free Port has been officially approved by the State Council and will be put into operation on December 8 of this year.

Yu Rumin said that that cargo throughput is expected to hit 280 million tons and 7 million standard containers. This year's tasks also include 8.5 billion yuan worth of infrastructure construction, 10.06 billion yuan in major business income, 4.05 billion yuan in added value, and the completion of a 250,000-ton class sea route project by the end of the year.
