The U.S. State Department on Tuesday accused Eritrea of supporting radical Islamists in Somalia and added the country to its human rights blacklist.

"The Eritrean government continued to be one of the most repressive in Sub-Saharan Africa, and its human rights record worsened in 2006," the State Department said in its annual human rights report.

In addition to Eritrea, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Zimbabwe were blacklisted many years ago. The accused countries categorically reject the U.S. accusations and counterattacked every now and then U.S. atrocities in Iraq war and the notorious Guantanamo Prison.

The latest human right report said that Liberia, Indonesia, Morocco, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti and Ukraine have made improvements in their human rights records.
