U.S. ambassador says to solve dispute with Iran through diplomatic channels
font size

U.S. Ambassador to Egypt said here that the United States is taking efforts to solve the dispute with Iran through diplomatic channels, the Egyptian official MENA news agency reported on Wednesday.

Ambassador Francis Ricciardone made these remarks after a Tuesday meeting with members of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA).

He warned Iran against provoking the U.S. and its policy, adding that "no more insecurity is acceptable in the Mideast."

Referring to the recent summit talks between leaders of Iran and Saudi Arabia in Riyadh, Ricciardone said more time should be given to see what changes the summit could introduce to the Iranian policy in the region.

On Egyptian nuclear plan, Ricciardone said the U.S. encourages Egyptian plans to reactivate its nuclear program for peaceful use and would provide all needed assistance to the proposed Egyptian nuclear program as nuclear energy is clean and better than other polluting energies and is seen as highly important for the future of the planet.

For his part, ECFA chairman Abdel-Raouf el-Ridy called on the U. S. to exert more serious effort to revive the peace process in the region as a vital party to the Middle East issues.
