Bird flu has recently reoccurred in Vietnam's southern Can Tho city, raising the total number of affected localities in the country to five.
The disease killed 100 out of 500 ducks in a farm in Co Do district, Youth newspaper on Friday quoted the city's veterinary bureau as saying.
Specimens from the fowls, which had not been vaccinated against the disease, have been tested positive for bird flu virus strain H5N1.
The bureau has slaughtered all of fowls in the farm and disinfected it to prevent the spread of the disease.
Bird flu outbreaks in Vietnam, starting in December 2003, have killed and led to the forced culling of dozens of millions of fowls in the country, said the Department of Animal Health under the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
