HK equestrian fence design competition receives over 2,000 works

Over 2,000 entries were submitted to the Jumping Fence Design Competition, according to the organizer the Hong Kong Equestrian Company on Monday.

Among them, 1,740 entries were for the junior section, which was open to people aged 16 or below. There were 270 in the senior and 83 in the professional categories.

A panel of judges will short-list 60 entries at an initial selection process on March 13.

Cash prizes of 10,000 HK dollars (about 1,285 U.S. dollars), 8, 000 HK dollars and 5,000 HK dollars will be awarded to the top three place-getters in each of the three categories.

The selected works will be displayed on March 27 in Kowloon Park to commemorate the 500-day countdown to the 2008 Olympics, which will start on August 8 next year.
