China's top advisory body is due to end its annual full session Thursday afternoon in Beijing after discussing state issues of common concern and a report on the work of the advisory body.

The Fifth Session of the Tenth National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), which opened on March 3, has been attended by more than 2,100 advisors from across the country.

The CPPCC members have been present at the annual session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, hearing and discussing the report on the government work by Premier Wen Jiabao, reports on the work of the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate, and the drafts of property right law and enterprise income tax law.

The advisors also discussed the work report submitted by the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, and put forward a great number of proposals.

The advisors attended three plenary meetings that focused on economy, social and cultural development, and political construction during the session.

Founded in 1949, the CPPCC National Committee, with elite members of various social sectors, serves as a think tank for the government and for the country's legislative and judicial organs.

As an open forum where the ruling Communist Party, non- Communist parties of China and people with no party affiliations discuss state affairs freely and on an equal footing, the CPPCC National Committee has been the manifestation of China's socialist democracy.
