Qinghai-Tibet Railway operating well for eight months

The leading group for the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway held its ninth meeting on the morning of March 13. They reviewed the operating situation since the line opened and made arrangements for the next-step in management and operation. Zeng Peiyan, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the CPC, vice premier of the State Council and director of the leading group for the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway spoke at the meeting.

According to a report from the Ministry of Railways, since the Qinghai-Tibet Railway was formally opened on July 1, 2006, a total of 1.66 million people have journeyed on the line and 1.36 million tons worth of goods have been transported along it. The roadbed, bridge engineering and the orbital structure are all stable, the equipment is operating well and the environment along the line is well protected.
