Four outstanding Chinese women were recognized with a 2007 Human Rights Award from United States' woman's organization Vital Voices in Washington Wednesday.

The four award-winners are retired doctor Gao Yaojie from Henan province, Guo Jianmei, who founded the Center for Women's Law Studies and Legal Services of Peking University, Wang Xingjuan director of the Maple Women's Psychological Consultation Service Center in Beijing and Xie Lihua, vice-editor of China Women's News Daily.

U.S. Senator Hillary Clinton, one of the founder of Vital Voices, attended the award-giving ceremony at the Kennedy Center on Wednesday evening.

One of the most famous non-governmental organizations in the United States, Vital Voices has been actively pushing for women's participation in social activities across the world.
