font size

Jordan and Bahrain stressed the necessity to intensify efforts to keep the current momentum aimed to re-launch the peace process and bring about just and durable solution to the Palestinian issue.

Jordan's King Abdullah II and Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Issa Al Khalifa expressed the hope during their talks in Amman on Saturday.

The two leaders reiterated support to the Palestinian Authority in its drive to rebuild the Palestinian institutions that pave the ground for establishing the Palestinian state.

They also expressing the hope that the formation of the Palestinian national unity government would be a significant step to lift the blockade imposed on the Palestinian people and enable the Palestinian side to present itself as a powerful and effective peace partner.

According to the report of Jordan's news agency Petra, Abdullah briefed Bahrain's King during the talks on his recent efforts to advance the peace process and resume peace talks between the Palestinians and Israelis based on the Arab peace initiative.

Hamad Bin Issa Al Khalifa, for his part, appreciated the speech delivered by Abdullah before the U.S. Congress during his recent visit to Washington because "the speech strongly illustrated the Arab support to the Palestinian issue and to the right of all peoples in the region to live in peace, security and stability".

The two monarchs also underlined the need for the upcoming Arab summit in Riyadh later this month to come up with a united Arab stand in face of challenges facing the region.
