U.S. official arrives in Beijing on DPRK frozen funds
font size

The U.S. Deputy Assistant Treasury Secretary Daniel Glaser arrived in Beijing Sunday after the six-party talks on Korean Peninsula nuclear issue entered recess over the frozen funds issue.

Glaser made no comment when he arrived in Beijing airport.

A press officer from U.S. embassy said Glaser is set to hold meetings with the Chinese officials on Monday.

Reports said Glazer will discuss with the Chinese side on transfer of the frozen funds of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) from the Macao-based Banco Delta Asia (BDA).

The six-party talks recessed on Thursday. Top Chinese envoy to the six-party talks Wu Dawei said it would restart soon.

Wu said the transfer of DPRK's funds is an unexpected problem, and all sides are striving to find a solution.

On Sunday, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held a telephone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

The two sides exchanged views on pushing forward the development of the Sino-U.S. relations and the process of the six-party talks, according to a press release from Chinese Foreign Ministry.
