font size

Five U.S. soldiers were killed on Sunday in two separate attacks in and around Baghdad, the U.S. military announced.

Four soldiers died when a roadside bomb hit their patrol in Diyala province, the military said in a statement, adding two others were wounded in the same incident.

Meanwhile, another roadside bomb killed a U.S. soldier and injured two others during a route clearance mission in northwestern Baghdad, according to a separate statement.

At least 3,241 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
