Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Monday exchanged congratulatory messages with his Vanuatuan counterpart, Ham Lini, marking the 25th anniversary of the establishment of China-Vanuatu diplomatic ties.

In the message, Premier Wen said that China and Vanuatu have reaped abundant fruits in the development of bilateral relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties.

With their relations built on equality, sincerity and mutual trust, exchanges and cooperation between China and Vanuatu have turned increasingly closer, and the two countries have maintained effective coordination in international and regional affairs, said Wen.

China is willing to work with Vanuatu to further increase friendly exchanges and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, so as to promote China-Vanuatu ties to achieve fresher and greater development, the Chinese premier said.

In his message, Prime Minister Lini, on behalf of the Vanuatuan government and people, expressed thanks to the Chinese government and people for their support and assistance in various fields.

Lini said that Vanuatu will adhere to the one-China policy, and is willing to work with the Chinese side to further boost bilateral ties.

Also on Monday, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing exchanged congratulatory messages on the occasion with Vanuatu's deputy prime minister, Sato Kilman.
