Pakistan does not favor imposition of sanctions on Iran as sanctions are often counter- productive, said a Pakistani official Monday.

"Pakistan hopes that all parties concerned would pursue efforts to find a negotiated settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue," Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam told the weekly press briefing.

"This is also the intent of the resolution which calls for negotiated settlement," she said.

She said that Pakistan was examining the resolution to see whether it would impact any aspect of the country's relations with Iran.
