A senior Chinese Communist Party official on Tuesday called for a fair, effective and authoritative system to try lawsuits against governments bodies to guarantee social justice.
Luo Gan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), told the fifth national meeting on trials of administrative lawsuits that the administrative lawsuit system was one of the most effective and direct legal systems to safeguard the public's rights and interests.
Luo, the top CPC official in charge of law and order, said the system, which mainly involved cases of individuals suing government bodies, was also intended to ensure administrative bodies exercised their authority according to the law.
He said the administrative lawsuit system was important for building a harmonious society under the rule of law.
He urged government organizations to improve their administration and cooperate with courts in administrative lawsuit cases so as to settle disputes and promote social harmony and stability.
