France launches plant biology research networkA total of research bodies which are part of PLANTnetPARIS network are holding a two-day symposium in a Parisian suburb on Wednesday to launch an international research and education network for plant biology. The symposium, which has been taking place since Tuesday, discuss five themes, namely, plasticity of plant genomes, development, evolution and cellular biology, plant physiology and metabolism, adaptation of plants to biotic and abiotic environment factors, plant biotechnologies and sustainable agricultural productions. PLANTnetPARIS is a network comprising of 13 research bodies under the supervision of the International Research Center on Agronomy (INRA), the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) , Paris-Sud 11 University and AgroParisTech, with a membership of more than 900 people. The network's key objective is to encourage multi-disciplinary and integrated approaches, as well as the optimization of French research and education system with a better national and European focus.
