Togo requires financial fund to solve energy crisis
font size

The resolution of Togo's energy crisis requires an investment of approximately 10 billion CFA francs (20 million U.S. dollars), a Togolese energy and mines ministry official said on Friday.

Togolese energy and mines minister Leopold Gnininvi is currently negotiating for funding with Togo's partners in order to find a way of overcoming the prevailing situation, according to the same source.

During a conference held in Germany in which he has taken part recently, Gnininvi called for technical assistance from Europe to help in repairing the dilapidated energy infrastructure in the country.

The current energy crisis is a matter of great concern. If nothing is done within the desired time frame, the organization of legislative elections which are scheduled for this June will be affected, the official said.
