A suicide truck bomb attack targeted a police station in Kirkuk City, 250 km north of Baghdad on Monday, causing casualties, local police chief said.

"A suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden truck into a police station in Rahimawa district in Kirkuk City and detonated it at about 10:45 a.m. (0645 GMT)," Brigadier Burhan Wasif, police chief of the city told Xinhua by telephone.

The powerful blast, which echoed across the city, caused casualties, he said, adding that it was impossible at this stage to give the exact number of casualties.
