A suicide car bomb went off near a police checkpoint in Ramadi, killing at least 20 people and wounding 30 others on Friday, local police source said.
A suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden car into a police checkpoint west of Ramadi City, some 110 km west of Baghdad, and blew it up at about 11:15 a.m. (0715 GMT), the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The attack killed at least 20 people, including policemen, and wounded some 30 others, he said, adding that the powerful blast also heavily damaged a nearby building.
The death toll could rise as police and rescue team are still searching the rubble for more victims, he said.
