Chinese President Hu Jintao and Jordanian King Abdullah II exchanged congratulatory messages Saturday on the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic ties between the two countries.
In his message, Hu said bilateral ties have been developing smoothly since China and Jordan established diplomatic relations 30 years ago, and the two sides have enjoyed fruitful cooperation in economy, trade, culture, tourism and press.
With frequent high-level exchanges, political trust between the two countries has deepened, and both sides have offered sympathy and support for each other when dealing with international and regional affairs, the Chinese president said.
Speaking highly of King Abdullah II's role in strengthening Jordan's friendship with China since he ascended the throne, Hu said the king has attached great importance to Jordan's relations with China and contributed to its development in the 21st century.
As two developing nations, China and Jordan should further deepen mutual trust in politics, expand cooperation of mutual benefit and develop a lasting, stable, reciprocal and friendly relationship, all of which will serve the fundamental interests of both peoples and promote peace and development in the region, Hu said.
The Chinese leader said he would like to join hands with the Jordanian king in pushing forward the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
King Abdullah II said in his message that enjoying a close, concrete and traditional cooperative relationship in various areas with China, Jordan highly appreciates China's significant role in the Middle East, especially in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
It is Jordan's sincere hope that the two countries will consolidate and further develop their relations and expand cooperation in a bid to benefit both nations and peoples, the king said.
