Three-year-old Ugandan to ride in Central Africa MX Championship

Uganda's three-year-old motorcycle rider Alestair Blick will compete in the Central Africa Motocross (MX) Championship slated for Sunday at Uganda MX track Garuga.

Alestair, whose father is the Motocross national team captain and five times national champion Arthur Blick Jr., has been racing alone in the 50cc category since he shocked the East African country by joining motocross in February.

However, Alestair has finally found competitors this time when facing five-year-old Kenyans Mohammed Anwar and Samir Anwar in the highly-anticipated Championship.

"That boy is a brave rider. Alestair is amazing, whenever I go with him to Garuga for training he gets faster and braver. I am glad he's going to be challenged by the Kenyans. I wouldn't be surprised if he beat them," said Blick.

The regional motocross championship will feature riders from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Congo. The race has the open class, 125cc, 85cc, 65cc and what promises to be an exciting 50cc featuring infants.

The Ugandan team has 21 riders, while Kenya has named a team of 16 racers. Congo, Tanzania and Rwanda are expected to field individual riders in the championship.
