Timor Leste is to send athletes to the Olympic Games in Beijing, China, next year, the country's Prime Minister Jose Ramos Horta said in Dili Tuesday.

"We will send athletes to China in 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing," Horta told Chinese media here. He said that tens of athletes were now in a serious preparation to win medals there.

"We are training hard to get gold medal," he said. Among the field of to be participated were Taekwondo and marathon, he said.

However, the presidential candidate said that his country did not put any target on the competition.

"The most important thing is participation," he said.
